Mia pressed her lips into a thin line, refusing to dignify him with a response.

He leaned closer and pleaded, "Please, Mia, just one more chance. Trust me, one last time."

Her silence stretched on, filling the space between them like a taut string. It wasn't until they were almost at the restaurant that she finally spoke. "Rowan, I need time to think. I was impulsive when I agreed to get married before, and I don't want to make the same mistake. I need to be sure this time."

Rowland nodded. "Take all the time you need. I'll wait. However long it takes."
