Chapter: 240
The air seemed to hang still for a moment.
Bethany waited quietly for a few seconds, hearing nothing, before she hesitantly called out, "Jonathan?"
"I'll pick you up now."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Bethany let out a sigh of relief. It seemed like she had shed all fear and concern about any obstacles in her future.
All of a sudden, she was filled with determination. She vowed not to flinch as long as Jonathan stood strong.
With this decision, she felt a wave of relaxation wash over her.
She didn't sleep all night, yet she felt no fatigue. She rose to change her clothes, freshen up, and apply some makeup.
Stepping out of the bedroom, she found Aimee looking disheveled, stretching lazily.
Aimee looked at her in surprise. “Where are you going?"
"Jonathan is coming to pick me up."
Aimee paused, then asked cautiously, "So? Have you thought it through?"
Bethany nodded and said, “Yes, you are right. I should live for myself, He could give up so much and still choose me. If I keep hesitating, I will let him down."
"That's right!" Aimee's excitement nearly brought her to tears.
“Bethany, remember, you deserve a good man! You deserve to be cherished! Mr. Bates knows your value.”
She quickly crossed the room and embraced Bethany tightly. "Bethany, you will be happy!"
"Yes!" Bethany breathed another sigh of relief. "I will."
She realized that if she let Jonathan's love slip away now, she might never find another man who would treat her the same way again.
She longed to hold on to this feeling of being treasured and protected forever.
When Jonathan arrived, Bethany was still embracing Aimee. They stayed together until Bethany received a call from Jonathan.
She slung her bag over her shoulder and strolled out, feeling joyful.
Upon seeing Jonathan, she felt a bit bashful, even though they had been intimate many times.
Jonathan smoothly approached her and took her bag.
Bethany feigned a slight cough. “Well... Don't you need to return to the office today?"
