Chapter: 241
“Brody will handle things there. I haven't slept all night. I need to go back and rest." His voice was rough, and his handsome face showed signs of obvious fatigue.
Yet, if Bethany needed him to pick her up, he would undoubtedly rush over without hesitation.
“Okay." She lowered her head and walked behind him, not expecting him to suddenly stop, causing her to bump into his back.
"Do you want me to spare some time to get the divorce certificate with you?"
"No, no! I was just asking!"
Upon hearing this, Jonathan raised his eyebrows, a realization dawning on him. "You don't want to divorce me anymore?"
"No, I don't." Bethany smiled shyly. "You're so good to me. You care for me and trust me. Would it be ungrateful of me to insist on a divorce?"
At this, Jonathan finally smiled.
It might have been the first time he truly felt happy in a while.
He raised his hand and lightly tapped her forehead. “Now you realize how ungrateful you are."
"It's your fault. Why didn't you tell me what you've been doing?"
Bethany looked at him. "You should have told me about the Zucron Company project."
Jonathan was taken aback. "How did you find out?"
"Nikolas came to me and revealed everything you had done."
“What did Nikolas tell you?" Jonathan asked.
"He shared everything he knows, but he wasn't trying to push me towards you," Bethany said. She knew Nikolas spoke out of concern for Jonathan.
Her indifference to Jonathan's efforts had been stark, offering no feedback or enthusiasm. From Nikolas' perspective, she surely didn't seem worthy of Jonathan.
Nikolas had suggested she leave Jonathan to spare him from being caught between two women.
"Don't heed his advice," said Jonathan.
"I won't. But you owe him thanks. Without his intervention, I might have opted for divorce to avoid facing our issues," Bethany said.
"Now, I need you to explain why you've done so much for me without revealing it."
Jonathan's gaze grew intense, then he spoke. “If you knew earlier, you would have distanced yourself from me."
Hearing this, Bethany was taken aback.
She hadn't anticipated such a response.
