Chapter: 249
She was wrong, however, as Jonathan sided completely with Bethany.
This caused Maddie to believe that all her labors over the years were a joke. A big joke!
"Only you know whether you did it or not. We won't falsify evidence against you. You'll be judged fairly," Jonathan said.
"Is there any evidence to show that I framed Bethany?" Maddie asked.
“I'm still investigating it."
"You're just looking for evidence against me," Maddie said sarcastically. "I will resign, and you can blame me to your heart's content and try to prove Bethany's innocence. I only request that we act as a couple in front of your mother."
She waited for Jonathan to reply, but he said nothing.
Frowning, she said, "You know she won't survive another operation."
Maddie knew that Jonathan would not agree to what she asked for.
However, they both knew that this was the only way to keep Francine safe.
"Are you finished?" Jonathan asked.
"Jonathan! For Bethany's sake, are you truly prepared to forsake your own mother? You've completely lost your mind over her!" Maddie cried out in disbelief.
He didn't reply, simply stood, and opened the door to his office.
"Please leave."
Maddie's face was a canvas of humiliation, embarrassment, and anger.
Jonathan remained stoic, not sparing her another glance as she departed.
After Maddie left, Jonathan glanced at the resignation letter on his desk before calling the HR department.
"Process Maddie Hinchcliffe's resignation. Yes, she's leaving voluntarily."
Jonathan anticipated his father's visit, so he wasn't taken aback when Godfrey appeared in his office after the meeting.
On his phone, he had typed a message to Bethany but hadn't sent it yet.
"Don't confront your mother. I'll sort things out here and come talk to her."
Jonathan was aware that his mother likely had harsh words for Marie.
Bethany was out of her depth dealing with it alone.
“What, you don't regard me as your father anymore?" Godfrey, feeling overlooked, grew increasingly irritated.
