Chapter: 25
She could almost see the burning desire in his eyes.

"You still have so much energy?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

Bethany averted her gaze and murmured, "I just told you that that was the last round."

“And I never agreed to your request," Jonathan replied coolly.

That night, Bethany only got three hours’ worth of sleep.

But by the time she woke up the following morning, Jonathan was already gone.

On the dining table, a plate of warm breakfast was waiting for her, still steaming. Next to it was a handwritten note that read, "I'm on a business trip. I'll be back next week."

Bethany's gaze darted between the note and the breakfast. She struggled to believe the considerate husband at home was the cold CEO at work.

At home, he was so gentle. Even last night in bed, he was especially careful, as though afraid of hurting her.

If it weren't for the tattoo, she might have believed Jonathan had genuine feelings for her.

Bethany suddenly felt a pang of envy for the girl he had cherished for so many years.

Later that morning, as soon as she arrived at the company, she started filling out the loan application.

Just before noon, Carson suddenly pushed open her office door, his displeasure evident. "Are you going to apply for a loan from the head office? We just made a significant mistake in our last project. Do you really think the head office will approve it?"

"Yes." Bethany nodded firmly. "Don't worry; I've got this!"

After all, it was Jonathan who advised her to do this. She was confident he'd approve of her application.

Jonathan was keenly aware of how important this project was to her.

"I can see you've started thinking outside the box with this approach, but its practicality is questionable. The Zucron Company project has inherent risks, so I doubt the head office will approve your proposal,"

Carson said with a frown. "Think of another way."

"But this is the fastest way to jumpstart the project," Bethany insisted. "Mr. Smith, please trust me this time."

At the end of the day, she cared more about this project's success than Carson did.

Because once this project took off, she'd be able to pay Jonathan back for her mother's medical expenses.

Lips pursed into a tight line, Carson mulled over it for a while.

Although he didn't know what had happened, he couldn't help but feel that Bethany was hiding something.

"Fine," he relented with a sigh. “Work hard, okay? The next project will be bigger than this one."
