Chapter: 272
Feeling impassive about the whole situation, Brody also asked her to deliver documents.

Bethany thought she'd have a good and sound sleep after a very tough day, but Maddie's words kept on playing in her mind.

Maddie said this was the last time.

These words left Bethany unsettled. She wasn't able to control herself at all.

She picked up her phone to send a text to Jonathan in efforts to let him know what was going on. However, after think about it deeply, it remained an unsent text.

Maddie had said she was sent by Jonathan's father and if she mentioned this to Jonathan, it'd definitely cause him to have an argument with his father. She couldn't dare to imagine what the outcome would be Like.

Bethany wasn't comfortable with Jonathan arguing with any of his family because of her. His mother's illness was even worse than Marie's.

"Ding!"

Jonathan's message came in at that same moment.

“I just got off work. Are you at East Shade Bay?" it read.

“Yeah, I am."

“I'll have my assistant get you dinner in thirty minutes. Please open the door for him when he comes."

Bethany was about saying no, until Jonathan sent another text. "I don't want to hear you object. I know you've not had anything to eat."

Jonathan's simple message erased all of Bethany's tiredness and worries from the entire day.

Perhaps this was the power of love. It was no surprise that it was so coveted.

“Alright, take care while you're out," she replied.

"Got it."

Bethany put down her phone and went to take a shower to relax.

After changing into her loungewear, she found herself checking the clock for her menstrual cycle.

Before being in a relationship, stress from work or life often delayed her period, so she wasn't particularly concerned this time, attributing it to accumulate stress impacting her health.

However, her period had never been delayed by more than five days before.

She realized she should probably make a hospital appointment soon.

The doorbell rang out of the blue.

Bethany quickly went to open the door, and it was Jonathan's assistant. He was holding several large bags that looked like they contained a feast.
