Chapter: 296
Knowing Aimee, she wouldn't have thought of that on her own.
Instead of calling Aimee back right away, Bethany got out of bed and went to freshen up in the bathroom.
She splashed cold water on her face to wake herself up. After all, it was not easy to fool Jonathan. No one knew how long it would take to finish acting.
Staring at her haggard reflection and dark circles under her eyes, Bethany briefly contemplated joining her mother in death.
After all, in this world, her family was gone, and there was no longer any need to struggle to earn money to pay for medical expenses.
There was no one to scold her while caring deeply for her.
She was just a girl without a mother now.
Bethany stood in the bathroom until she felt composed enough to face the day.
When she entered the living room, she expected Jonathan to be waiting to talk, but he wasn't there.
Only the usual breakfast and a note on the dining table greeted her.
"You must be exhausted from work. Take a few days off. I'll inform Brody. Don't forget to have breakfast."
Jonathan was trying to move past yesterday's events as if nothing had happened.
She wished for it to be that simple.
Bethany read the note over and over, then gently touched her lower abdomen.
At Ulinarch University...
“Mr. Watson, there's someone here to see you. His surname is Bates."
Behind the desk, Jayson, who had just taken a long leave and was preparing to leave, paused and frowned. “Bates?”
“Yes! You should go out and see who it is," his colleague suggested, returning to her seat with a smile.
After a moment of thought, Jayson decided to go out.
He thought that Jonathan might come to him, but he then felt that it was impossible.
After all, who was Jonathan?
As the CEO of Bates Group, he could have any woman he wanted. With his status and background, he didn't seem like someone who would lower himself for love.
As soon as Jayson stepped out of the teaching building, he spotted Jonathan's black Maybach in the distance, leaving him surprised.
“Mr. Bates, is there something you want to discuss with me?" Jayson asked, thinking it'd be best to speak less to avoid revealing Bethany's condition. As a teacher, he was no match for a businessman in cunningness.
