"Yes," Jonathan replied, extinguishing his cigarette and looking at Jayson. Despite his handsome, well-defined features, it was clear he was tired and worn out from a sleepless night. "I'm here to talk about Bethany."

"I figured as much."

Before Jayson could say more, Jonathan's husky voice cut in. "Please, don't take her away."

Jonathan's plea was unexpected.

Jayson had anticipated that Jonathan would use his power to threaten him, offer money, and issue warnings. After all, that was how it went in TV dramas, right.

But instead, Jonathan came to beg.

For Bethany's sake, the esteemed CEO of Bates Group humbled himself to this extent, even being willing to beg his rival in love.

"What did Bethany say to you?" Jayson asked. He was unsure of the situation, so he chose his words carefully.

Jonathan's demeanor, however, was shocking.

It was clear that Bethany meant a lot to him, and he was deeply affected.

“She said being with me was exhausting." Jonathan's voice trailed off as he reached for a cigarette. Opening the box, he realized he'd smoked almost half of them while waiting for Jayson.

Jayson took a deep breath, trying to appear calm. "There's no point in begging me. She's the one who's exhausted."

Jonathan lifted his head and met his gaze.

Despite his fatigue, he remained imposing. Just standing there in silence, he made Jayson uneasy.

A gentle breeze blew, ruffling the hair on Jonathan's forehead.

After a long pause, he finally spoke. “I need you to go abroad and leave this place. I want her to have no other options. Jayson, I don't want to hurt anyone she cares about. I know how much Aimee means to her. That's why I'm talking to you."

He implied that Jayson had been given a choice. If Jayson refused to leave.

"Are you threatening me, Mr. Bates?"

"You're trying to take my wife away from me. Don't you think I should?"

Jonathan confessed to threatening Jayson.

Jayson smiled, saying, “Bethany is the one I truly want to cherish. It's her decision now. If you truly love her, Mr. Bates, respecting her choice is key."

“I can respect everything about her, except this.”

Leaving him was out of the question!

Ever since he received her message and knocked on Bethany's door, Jonathan knew without a doubt that he had fallen deeply in love with her. Leaving her was not an option for him.
