Chapter: 320
Jonathan had been the motivation for her relentless efforts.

With him in her life, she felt no need for her biological father.

"You can have him. I don't need a father," Bethany replied indifferently, her decision firm. She had never needed him before and she certainly wouldn't start now.

With those final words, Bethany stood up and left the hospital.

She knew there would be no reconciliation with Andrew, and no sisterly connection with Maddie would ever form.

If Maddie was behind Marie's death, Bethany would show no forgiveness.

Bethany took a taxi and settled into the back seat, her mind replaying memories of her and Jonathan like a slideshow as she watched the passing scenery.

The taxi pulled up at East Shade Bay. Instead of heading straight in, Bethany exhaled a deep breath of relief, pulled out her phone, and dialed Aimee.

"I've made my decision. I'm keeping the baby," she declared firmly.

Jonathan hadn't pushed back their wedding out of a desire to delay the inevitable divorce.

In fact, he had repeatedly urged the wedding planner to hurry.

He was terrified that Bethany might decide she couldn't wait any longer and demand a divorce right then.

Still at the hospital, Bethany received another message from Jonathan while waiting with Aimee outside the obstetrics and gynecology clinic, where they were preparing for a prenatal checkup.

In order to avoid detection, she borrowed Aimee's ID.

“The wedding will take place tomorrow."

As she read the message, Bethany's hands shook slightly.

Deep down, she found herself wishing that the wedding could be postponed, even if just for a little while longer.

Yet, she also felt an urgent need to resolve everything and escape this complicated place with her child.

The conflicting feelings surged within her as she stared at the message.

"What's wrong?" Aimee inquired, sensing her unease.

"Nothing," Bethany responded, though her voice faltered. She was about to pocket her phone when another message from Jonathan pinged in.

“Tomorrow, could you please ensure he doesn't attend? Just for a day, just for the morning."

Bethany could almost hear the humility in Jonathan's words through the text-a stark contrast to his usual demeanor as the formidable CEO of Bates Group. He was actually begging her.

She realized that "he" in Jonathan's message referred to Jayson.
