Chapter: 344
"That's reassuring."
Colt chuckled before continuing, “If you manage to resolve this issue, you'll be doing me a huge favor! I owe you big time. This problem has been bothering me for a while now.”
“It's okay. I'm just doing what needs to be done. If the resort project tanks, I won't see my bonus either."
After a brief exchange of pleasantries with Colt, Bethany ended the call. Shortly after, the doorbell chimed at her hotel room.
Bethany approached the door and swung it open.
Standing there was a slender girl in a white dress, her youthful face framed by wisps of hair.
"Hi there, are you Ms. Holt?" the girl inquired.
"Yes, that's me. Please, come in." Bethany smiled and moved aside to allow the girl entry.
There was a brief pause before the girl nodded and entered.
In that momentary glance, Bethany astutely sensed her hesitation.
She realized that the designer might have an inkling of why she was summoned, yet she clung to a flicker of hope that she was not exposed.
Bethany had met plenty of fresh graduates desperate for money.
“May I know your name?" Bethany asked and handed a glass of water to the girt.
The girl, visibly nervous, responded, "Nora Patel." She took the water with a demeanor fraught with anxiety.
"No need to be nervous. Despite the design leak and its impact on the company, my willingness to speak with you privately offers you an opportunity to rectify matters."
Bethany preferred efficiency and cut to the chase. She didn't play games with newcomers.
Nora's heart sank when she heard this. “I'm deeply sorry, truly! I regret it, but I'm unsure how to fix things!"
"If you had the audacity to request a million dollars, you must have believed it was justified and likely felt no remorse." Bethany laid bare her deception as she needed to resolve the issue as soon as possible. "You might have even congratulated yourself. Regret only surfaced once you were caught."
Nora lapsed into silence.
Bethany's tone turned stern. “Listen, I'm not willing to invest time in someone who can't be straightforward with me. Should you persist in these games, your departure is inevitable. Our company will proceed with legal action, holding you accountable with penalties.”
Bethany's few words drained color from Nora's face. The water in her hand was untouched.
“I truly mean it! Please, Ms. Holt, grant me an opportunity to make amends. I was not in the right frame of mind back then."
She was on the verge of bowing down to Bethany.
And this was exactly what Bethany had expected.
