Chapter: 345
No longer merely an assistant at Ensson Corporation, Bethany now wielded considerable authority and employed decisive methods.
Intimidating the newcomer, Nora, seemed all too easy for Bethany.
"Call the resident and tell him we've changed the design. Whether he moves out or not doesn't really matter." Bethany glanced at Nora's phone, insisting she make the call right there.
Though she had coaxed Nora into submission, she needed to ensure everything was under control, just in case.
Nora, taken aback, looked visibly uncomfortable. "He's really aggressive. He'll definitely yell at me!"
"You either get sued by the company or get yelled at by him. Pick one." Bethany shrugged nonchalantly, her hands wide open.
She wasn't really giving Nora an option.
"Isn't there another way? If I tell him that, he'll think I'm tricking him. He'll seek revenge later."
"You're an adult. Aren't you supposed to take responsibility for your actions?" Bethany said, rising to open the door. “If you don't want to do it and prefer to argue, then forget it. I'll have the company handle this. Expect a call from our lawyer soon."
With that, she added a dismissive "Bye."
At that moment, Nora felt too intimidated to refuse again. She waved her hand frantically. "I'll call him! I'll call him right now! Just don't sue me!"
In a flurry, she took out her phone and dialed the resident's number.
Bethany subtly signaled with her eyes to put the call on speaker, keen to overhear the conversation.
The call connected soon, and a male voice, tinged with irritation, answered. “What's going on now? Didn't you assure me there would be no issues with the blueprint? Was that not true? Another woman claims you've altered the designs. She doesn't seem to care if my house gets torn down!"
Nora bit her lip, her nerves apparent. "I never saw this coming! But, yes, the plans have been changed."
“What? Really?" The man's voice grew louder, accusatory. "You're trying to ruin me, aren't you? That woman offered me a million to leave, but I refused. If this messes up, you're covering the costs!"
At this, Nora turned desperately to Bethany, seeking assistance.
She merely raised her eyebrows, signaling for Nora to continue.
“Then you should agree. One million is a significant amount."
"I'm worried she's not inclined to offer so much now. Are you threatened by someone?" The man wasn't oblivious. He could sense something off about Nora.
"I'm just concerned you'll reprimand me. But I've already informed you. The company plans to revise the design. If they're still prepared to offer you a million, you really should accept!"
With that, Nora ended the call abruptly.
It was apparent she was genuinely frightened.
"Ms. Holt, I've followed your instructions. Can I leave now? Did Mr. Flores know about this too?"
