Chapter: 348
“If he tries anything, I'll call the police!" Colt said.
“Westsilver isn't like big cities. Unless it's a major issue, local authorities tend not to get involved. But if the locals start making news, it could tarnish the reputation of our resort project," Bethany said calmly.
Colt nodded, appreciative. "You think of everything! No wonder Ryan insisted you be on this project. Clearly, a smart move."
"Stop with the compliments," Bethany responded, taking a deep breath.
She frowned, thinking it over before suggesting, "You should have a casual chat with this guy later. And it might be wise to record the conversation or get video proof that he agreed to the demolition."
"Is that a threat?"
"No," Bethany said with a reassuring smile. "It's not about threatening him. It's more about ensuring public calm if there's a backlash. We can show that since he agreed to the demolition, it's reasonable for us to revert to the original design plans for construction. It was his choice, not coercion."
“Alright, that settles it." Colt gave Bethany an appreciative look, clearly placing his trust in her. "I'll go speak with him then. Can you handle the investor for me?"
The mention of “investor” instantly gave Bethany a headache.
Over the years, she had meticulously ensured that none of the projects she worked on were connected to Bates Group. She wanted nothing to do with her past.
Yet, at this juncture, GrandFuture Investment had been bought out by Bates Group. She was torn about whether to leave or stay. Staying might mean encountering Jonathan.
Luckily, this particular project, though significant to others, was minor in the scope of Bates Group's operations, so Jonathan Likely wouldn't take much notice of it.
Bethany massaged her forehead and pulled out her phone to check a message from Aimee.
"Nola has been crying non-stop. She wants to see you! I'll drive her over to Westsilver and then head back. Is that alright?"
She quickly added, "We won't stay overnight! We'll head back right after seeing you! Nola looked at me with those big, tear-filled eyes. I just couldn't say no. Please!"
Bethany could almost see the woeful expression on Nola's face as she pleaded with Aimee.
She felt compelled to agree, saying, "Sure, come on over."
Deep down, she was also longing to see Nola again.
The person representing GrandFuture Investment was a woman. In the business world, where most high-level positions were typically held by men, her presence was notable.
Upon spotting Arianna, Bethany let out a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, this wasn't someone from Bates Group.
“Hello, Ms. Holt! I am Arianna Bernard, the manager responsible for this project on behalf of GrandFuture Investment." Arianna greeted, a smile brightening her face as she extended her hand.
Bethany quickened her step, returning the handshake warmly. “Nice to meet you. My name is Bethany Holt."
"This might be your first time seeing me, but I've seen you before,”
