Chapter: 352
Jonathan scanned the surroundings but saw no adults nearby. He wondered who she was calling out for.
For a moment, he hesitated, curiosity piqued, but fatigue weighed heavier. He picked up his suitcase and walked inside.
Outside, Nola pouted, her eyes glued to the hotel entrance, waiting impatiently for her mother, who seemed to be taking an eternity.
“Mommy! Auntie, hurry up!"
Before long, Aimee appeared, scooping Nola into her arms and peppering her with kisses. "Baby, don't rush your mommy! She's tied up with an important work call. How about we sneak off for some treats while we wait? Sound good?"
"Alright!" Nola agreed, her little cherubic arms wrapping around Aimee's neck. "I saw a really tall man!"
Aimee's eyes twinkled with amusement. “Is that so? Nola, do you want to grow up to be really tall too?"
"Yes!" Nola bobbed her head with enthusiasm. Her gaze drifted back to where Jonathan had vanished. "That man was tall as a tree!"
Aimee glanced in the same direction, but saw no one.
She chalked it up to Nola's vivid imagination.
"Alright, munchkin, let's head to the supermarket," Aimee said.
"We'll take a quick look around, and by the time we're done, your mommy should be finished with her call, and we can head to the night market!"
Nola's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yay! Can I have a lollipop?"
Aimee chuckled. “Just one, and we have to finish it quickly before your mommy comes back."
Aimee knew she was putty in Nola's hands.
One blink of those doe eyes, and she'd move mountains to grant the little girl's wishes.
Meanwhile, Jonathan took the elevator to the executive suite Brody had booked for him.
While it lacked the opulence of a five-star establishment, it was immaculate and orderly. Jonathan knew Brody must have given specific instructions to ensure his comfort.
After working with him for years, Jonathan appreciated how meticulous Brody could be, attending to details with the precision of a seasoned craftsman.
After a refreshing shower, Jonathan noticed a missed call from Brody.
He returned the call, simultaneously drawing back the curtains with a remote control.
"Mr. Bates, is everything to your satisfaction? Should I speak to the hotel manager to enhance any facilities?" Brody inquired, his voice professional and attentive.
“No need," Jonathan replied, his tone calm. "I came to Westsilver for some peace and quiet."
He preferred to keep a low profile to avoid unnecessary disturbances.
