Chapter: 36
Averting her gaze, she murmured awkwardly, "Jonathan..."

A satisfied smile spread across his face. With a nod, he stood up and smoothed his clothes, saying briskly, “Work hard, Bethany. I'll have my secretary inform Carson, and once you've completed those finance courses, you'll know exactly how to handle the issues with Zucron Company."

With that, he strode back to the master bedroom in high spirits, likely to get dressed for work.

Bethany watched him leave in a daze.

Why on earth was he so happy when she called him by his first name just now?

Later that morning, Bethany arrived at the office on tenterhooks, dreading that everyone might have heard about her incident with Kenton.

Thankfully, it seemed the news hadn't spread, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

She couldn't bear to relive the traumatic ordeal, let alone discuss it, forcing herself to smile as she accepted any offered comfort.

After the morning meeting, Aimee headed straight to Bethany's office and gushed, "So, how'd it go? Did you have a good talk with the rep from Zucron Company?"

“Kenton was tied up with something, so the project hasn't made any progress," Bethany answered carefully.

“What? Seriously? Why are you so unlucky lately?" Aimee patted her shoulder with a sympathetic sigh. "Maybe we should go to the temple this weekend and pray for your luck to turn!"

Bethany mulled over Aimee's proposal for a minute before finally nodding. “Okay, sounds good."

Although she wasn't religious, since her mother's surgery was about to begin, she figured praying might offer some psychological comfort.

While they were talking, Carson barged into her office with a strange expression on his face. “Bethany, when did you sign up for the finance courses at the head office? They only posted about this plan at seven o'clock this morning, but only an hour later, I received a notice that you were admitted into the program!"

“Well... I saw the post at breakfast and decided to apply for it.”

Truth be told, Bethany didn't expect that Jonathan would handle it so quickly.

In her eyes, he should've waited a couple of days before processing her application. After all, the fast turnaround could arouse suspicion in the office.

"I don't know how or why the head office chose you, but since you've already been admitted, you can attend," Carson said tersely. Not wanting to say anything more to Bethany, he whirled around on his heels and hurried out.

As he left, Aimee made a face behind Carson's back. "We haven't even started praying, yet the Bodhisattva intervened!"

Bethany had to stifle a giggle.

Bodhisattva hadn't helped at all; it was Jonathan who pulled the strings behind the curtain.

Meanwhile, in the CEO's office, Jonathan leaned back in his chair and rubbed his aching temples. His meeting had just ended, leaving a pile of data reports in front of him. As the CEO, he had to personally review all of them.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Nikolas entered.

“Buddy, if you wanted to transfer that assistant to your office, you could've just asked her to come here. Did you really need to Launch a whole program just for her? You even announced it on the official website."
