Chapter: 365
“That's my girl. Now go to sleep. Mommy's right here."

"Okay."

Bethany's drowsiness vanished. She continued to pat Nola's back until she heard her breathing steady.

Confirming that Nola was asleep, Bethany carefully slipped out of bed.

She strode to the towering window and pulled out her phone, replaying a video over and over.

In it, a young boy was immersed in a book, his demeanor serious, almost as if he were a pint-sized adult absorbed in deep contemplation.

As the video reached its conclusion, the boy glanced up, revealing a face that mirrored Jonathan's down to the last detail.

It was uncanny!

Actually, Bethany had given birth to twins, one boy and one girl.

They once shared a home in the countryside, but as the boy grew, whispers began. People couldn't shake the feeling they'd seen his face before, like some celebrity.

Some even dropped Jonathan's name outright.

This filled Bethany with dread. She feared that if the Bates family discovered the truth, they would take the child away.

They had demonstrated their brutality when they took her mother's life three years ago; gaining custody of the child would be a mere stroll in the park for them.

The mere thought of how they might treat her son sent shivers down her spine.

Right now, she was no match for them.

After agonizing over the decision, she enrolled her son in a foreign boarding school, hired a nanny, and visited whenever she could after finishing her projects.

By a stroke of luck, Nola favored her looks and bore only a Little resemblance to Jonathan, allowing her to stay.

But still, people like Colt were beginning to see Jonathan in Nola too.

Bethany foresaw an increase in these remarks due to Jonathan's overpowering genetic influence.

Bethany considered moving abroad after completing the project.

Although the pay was better domestically due to the high demand for such services, she needed to prioritize her children.

She opened the window to let in the breeze, but quickly shut it again when she remembered her sleeping daughter. She put on her slippers and padded downstairs to the hotel lobby.

The mountains surrounding Westsilver filled the night breeze with the scent of green grass and trees. It was a refreshing scent, as it helped clear one's head.

Bethany was about to leave the hotel when the receptionist saw her.
