Chapter: 386
"She's the woman I'm interested in."
Nikolas was left speechless.
"Isn't she beautiful?" Ryan continued, unaware of Nikolas's astonishment. "But it's not just her appearance I admire. It's her dedication to her work that truly draws me in. What do you think?"
Nikolas managed a weak smile, his voice hollow. "I don't think she's good enough for you."
“Not good enough? Really?" Ryan was taken aback, scrutinizing his friend's face which was turning an unusual shade. “What's the matter with you?"
Abruptly, Nikolas grabbed Ryan's arm. "Wait, you said she's married? Really?"
"Yes," Ryan confirmed, his confusion growing. "She's been married since she started at the company. It's common knowledge; she's never hidden it."
“Have you ever met her husband?"
"No." Ryan's curiosity about her husband was as strong as Nikolas’.
“But it's obvious they're deeply in love. Their love is like gold-solid and valuable."
Nikolas thought these words might convince Jonathan to finally let go and move on to marry Maddie.
“Ryan, you don't have a chance."
“Why not?"
“Because even a man far greater than you has tried and failed with her."
Nikolas had been curious about the extraordinary woman who could resist someone like Ryan-a wealthy, attractive man actively seeking marriage. But the moment he saw Bethany, he understood why.
Bethany was indeed a remarkable woman.
Bethany and Colt discussed the project while walking.
Colt couldn't help but express his gratitude. "I owe it all to you. I wouldn't have this honor without your help!"
“If you keep saying things like that, I might have to stay away. I can't handle the company gossip, and I worry my husband might get jealous and upset!"
"Your husband is incredibly lucky to have married you,"
Bethany waved her hand dismissively, smiling. When she looked up, her eyes met Ryan's, and beside him stood Nikolas.
Her expression soured immediately, and she instinctively turned to leave.
Ryan quickly followed after her. "What's wrong?"
"I just remembered something urgent at home. I can't make it to lunch. Sorry!"
