Chapter: 402
She was about to hang up when Andrew quickly said, “Wait! I was thinking of arranging a meeting between you and Bethany. Despite everything, you two are sisters. Her mom passed away, and she only has me and you now. Lately, my health hasn't been great, and I worry about the future. I want you both to reconcile and not let past issues Linger."

“Bethany? Have you two been in contact?" Maddie asked.

Andrew explained, "She won't reach out to me, but I found her number when I visited her mom's grave."

Maddie's eyes lit up. "Quick, tell me!"

She quickly added with a smile, "Dad, you're right. We should mend things. Despite her taking Jonathan from me, we're still sisters. I want to rebuild our relationship."

Andrew sighed. “Bethany has her mother's temper, stubborn and headstrong. It's why I didn't get along with her. But I've had time to think. She's still my daughter, carrying our family name. I have to accept that."

Maddie reassured him. "Don't worry, I can forgive her for everything."

Suddenly changing the topic, Andrew said, "By the way, your mom and I got married officially! You should get your surname changed to Holt, like she wanted."

Maddie forced a smile. "Let's talk about it later."

She recalled how she used to resent sharing a surname with her mother, unable to explain it to curious classmates.

She had wished for her father’s surname like other children, but Andrew couldn't grant that. He had asked Maddie's mother to wait, predicting Marie wouldn't live long.

And endure she did, for decades.

Now, he wanted Maddie to change her surname, but she no longer cared.

She knew Andrew's real motive, thinking she could marry into the Bates family and he could use their power.

Self-serving, as always.

Maddie ended the call, and shortly after, Andrew sent over Bethany's number.

Maddie's face lit up.

Fate seemed to favor her, presenting a new opportunity to pursue.

Although Maddie wasn't certain if Jonathan had reached out to Bethany again, she knew how much Bethany meant to him.

She wished that the woman Jonathan was going to marry wasn't Bethany, but someone else.

Any other woman would be easier to handle compared to Bethany. Not because Bethany was particularly capable, but because Jonathan cared deeply about her.

Maddie was convinced that Jonathan would never devote so much energy and time to another woman in his life. So, she hoped it wasn't Bethany.

Maddie checked her watch and realized it was almost time to head to Bates Group.

She changed into a well-tailored suit that made her look sharp and authoritative. Returning to Odonset and Bates Group, she needed to assert her identity and show everyone who would ultimately prevail.
