Chapter: 419
After all, as a "driver," what could Jonathan possibly discuss with Bethany? Any attempt at forced conversation, he feared, would likely result in another deletion given her personality.

She wasn't fond of people suddenly getting close.

Jonathan was well aware of this.

He also knew how swiftly Bethany could cut ties.

Knock!

A sudden knock interrupted his thoughts.

Jonathan looked up from his phone. “Come in."

The door swung open to reveal Brody.

“Mr. Bates, I'm preparing to depart for Westsilver."

He wondered if he should secure an additional ticket for Jonathan.

Of course, Brody kept this question to himself.

"Mm." Jonathan briefly acknowledged before turning his attention back to his paperwork.

Brody, noting his boss's disinterest, presumed he wasn't meant to accompany him to Westsilver. He placed the project plan on the desk and began to exit.

Just as he reached the door, Jonathan's voice stopped him.

"Book me a ticket for next Monday."

"To Westsilver?"

Jonathan gave him a frown. "To Brokdon."

“Huh?"

Brody's confusion deepened.

Leaving the CEO's office, he entered the elevator. When it halted at the fifteenth floor, the doors opened to reveal Maddie, elegantly dressed and stepping inside.

She smiled at Brody.

Brody greeted her.

"Mm." Maddie offered no more than a brief acknowledgment, choosing to stand at the front.

As the elevator emptied, Brody found himself alone with Maddie, which was exactly what he wanted to avoid, especially fearing she might inquire about Jonathan. Preferring solitude, he moved to the doors, planning to exit at the next floor and take the stairs for some exercise.
