Chapter: 427
It was during school hours, so the restaurant wasn't busy. Bettie pulled up a chair and sat beside her.

"Just last year! The place was falling apart, and we barely had the funds for renovations. My husband and I were even considering selling it, but then a young man came forward and offered to finance the remodeling."

“Really? He must be a student from the school who holds dear memories of this spot."

Bettie paused for a moment and then said, "It's that same man I told you about Last time. He's the one who asked us to keep open until 10 PM. I always thought he did it for you."

Bethany was the only one who used to come and eat something after 10 PM.

Bethany replied, “It was probably just a coincidence."

"That young man was very handsome and tall," Bettie suddenly exclaimed, slapping her thigh. "I took a photo of him the last time he was here. Let me show you; see if you recognize him."

With that, she got up to fetch her phone.

Bethany hadn't thought much of it, but when she saw the photo on Bettie's phone, she was shocked.

It was Jonathan.

Despite the photo being a bit blurry and taken secretly, with his face partially turned away from the camera, Bethany could recognize him from just his profile.

It was definitely him...

Bethany asked, “He asked you to keep the place open later since middle school?"

“Yes! Why else would we stay open till 10 PM? It was a loss most nights! You were the only one who ever came by to eat something after 10, barely covering the cost of the electricity!" Bettie explained.

Bethany's eyes began to sting and soon, tears welled up uncontrollably.

He had done so much for her, and yet he had never said a word.

"Oh dear, why are you crying?" Bettie quickly handed her some tissues.

"Does this handsome guy move you? Are you two together?"

"We're not together."

Bethany's voice trembled with emotion, and her tears fell one after another.

She had never imagined that someone had been watching over her like a guardian angel ever since middle school. All her life, she had thought that nobody loved or cared about her.

“What? You're not together?" Bettie's eyes widened in surprise. “But he came here a year ago and helped us stay in business. He even left his phone number and said to contact him if we ever needed financial help again.”

She had assumed that he and Bethany were already together.

Bethany bit her lower lip. "Bettie... can you send me this photo?"
