Chapter: 446
Wesley, expecting the evening to go smoothly, was visibly frustrated by the turn of events. "What a mess you've made!"
“I'm sorry. I didn't anticipate this! Goldwald Company's CEO seemed very concerned about Ms. Holt. He might have a particular interest in her. Let's not provoke him."
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Wesley stood up, wiped his mouth, and tossed his napkin on the table. “Handle it from here. I'm going to rest. Follow your plan."
"Alright, don't worry, I'll take care of everything."
After Wesley departed, Brenden approached the restaurant staff in a hurry. “Could you check the surveillance footage for me? I need to see where the woman who was dining with me went."
"Of course, follow me. When did she go missing?"
"She mentioned she was heading to the restroom."
With a hint of regret, the attendant informed him, “There's no surveillance near the restrooms, and unfortunately, the camera at the entrance isn't working. We might only see her approaching the restroom but nothing beyond that."
Brenden experienced a profound sense of unexplainable anxiety.
He regretted his part in the scheme against Bethany. He should have considered the consequences more carefully. Such a beautiful woman surely hadn't escaped the attention of Goldwald Company's CEO. How could he have overlooked the fact?
The waiter inquired, "Sir, do you need to call the police?"
"Not yet. I'll keep looking," Brenden responded, not wanting to escalate the situation. He surmised that Bethany might have simply left with her colleagues.
If so, there would be no implications of wrongdoing on his or Wesley's part.
Brenden grabbed the wine bottle from the table and drove to a secluded area. There, he poured the wine into a trash can, shattered the bottle, and discarded the fragments.
Subsequently, he sent a message to Bethany.
"Ms. Holt, did you get drunk? I searched for you but couldn't find you. I thought about asking a female colleague to escort you back to the hotel. Have you made it back? If so, I won't disturb your rest. Let's talk tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Bethany felt the world spinning around her before she seemingly entered a car.
The growing discomfort in her stomach overwhelmed her, leading to her vomiting.
Jonathan, splattered with vomit, maintained a stern expression but continued to comfort Bethany by patting her back.
Upon their arrival at the hotel, Jonathan carried her inside, knowing he couldn't entrust her care to anyone else.
He ordered women's clothing for her and assisted her in changing out of her soiled attire.
As he was about to grab a towel to clean her up, Bethany clutched his clothes. "I'm hot... so hot..."
Hot?
Perplexed, Jonathan checked her forehead. She wasn't feverish, yet her hands and body were unusually warm.
