Chapter: 45
When she arrived at East Shade Bay, Bethany didn't touch Jonathan's belongings, fearing she might set him off. She quietly placed her suitcases in an inconspicuous corner of the room and began unpacking her belongings. Once she finished, she took her Laptop to the dining room table to work.

As soon as she logged into Ensson Corporation's internal software, she got a notification from Aimee.

Her message read, "Now, I'm 100% sure Mr. Bates is married."

Bethany's heart leaped to her throat. Had Aimee discovered her relationship with Jonathan?

Aimee had attached a screenshot to her message. Heart racing, Bethany clicked on it, only to see that it was a Tweet from Maddie.

“Both Jonathan and I value our privacy, so please don't take sneaky pictures of us. If I ever have a wedding, I'll definitely invite you."

At the end of her Tweet was a smile emoji.

Bethany pursed her lips into a thin line. Maddie's words were very subtle but meaningful.

While Maddie didn't admit to her relationship with Jonathan, she didn't clarify whether the rumors were true or not either.

Therefore, many people-including Aimee-assumed that Maddie and Jonathan had already obtained the marriage certificate in private; they just hadn't held a wedding yet.

However, unbeknownst to the public, Jonathan already had a marriage certificate-with Bethany, not Maddie.

Aimee saw that Bethany had just seenzoned her, so she sent another message. “Why aren't you replying to me? Anyway, since Mr. Bates is now happily married happy, do you think he'll give us a raise?"

Bethany paused, her fingers hovering over the keys. Before she could type out a reply, Jonathan arrived.

She looked up at him, the subject of today's rumors, unsure of what to say.

After all, it wasn't like she could just ask him straightforwardly about Maddie's Tweet.

“Have you had dinner?" Jonathan shrugged off his suit jacket and slung it over his shoulder, walking towards her leisurely.

“No, I'm not hungry." Bethany shook her head. "Are you? I can cook you something."

Though she couldn't compete with Michelin-starred chefs, she was confident in her cooking skills.

Besides, she wanted to show Jonathan that she was more than just a sex object. Perhaps by impressing him with her cooking, he'd improve his opinion of her.

Jonathan arched his eyebrows in response. Clearly, he didn't expect her to offer to cook for him. After a moment's pause, he nodded and said, "Just cook whatever you're good at."

"How about sweet and sour spare ribs and scallion-stewed pork?"

Bethany quickly closed her laptop and stood up, scurrying to the kitchen fridge to check if they had the necessary ingredients. “Hmm, no ribs. Wait here; I'll go buy them!"

But before she could hurry out the door, Jonathan stepped forward and grabbed her wrist.

"What's wrong?" She looked up at him in confusion.
