Chapter: 46
“Wait up. I'll go with you."

A few minutes later, Jonathan emerged from the bedroom in casual clothes. Without his usual crisp suit and tie, he looked much younger -almost like a college student that enjoyed playing basketball in his free time.

Just now, Bethany was deep in thought, racking her brains for a way to keep Jonathan from following her. Going out in public with a tall, handsome man like him was too risky. What if they were photographed together and their relationship was exposed?

“Let's go," he urged.

"Don't you think we should avoid being seen together? What if someone from the company sees me with you? What if the paparazzi take our photo?" she asked carefully, stealing a glance at him to check his reaction.

However, to her dismay, Jonathan failed to understand the gravity of the situation. "What's wrong with that?"

Since he insisted in joining her, she could only sigh and follow his lead.

Fortunately, there weren't that many people in the supermarket.

Though the security guards kept a vigilant eye out for shoplifters, everyone else was too focused on their own shopping to notice them.

Even so, Bethany deliberately kept her distance from Jonathan. She briskly walked to the meat section and urged the butcher hurry up and pack the ribs she picked out.

Finally, after getting what she needed, she turned around to tell Jonathan they could leave, only to see him talking to someone.

It was Maddie.

This was the second time Bethany had seen her, yet she was still blown away by how elegant Maddie was.

Even off duty, Maddie wore gorgeous designer clothing, decked out in a Chanel blouse over an haute couture skirt. Her smile was so gentle and lovely as she talked to Jonathan.

Standing together, the two looked like a match made in heaven.

Bethany glanced at Maddie, feeling dazed. She slowly lowered her gaze to the bag of ribs in her hand and the white T-shirt and jeans she wore. A wave of self-consciousness washed over her.

As Bethany raised her head again, she noticed Jonathan seemed to be searching for something-probably looking for her.

Instinctively, she hid behind a nearby shelf.

She chastised herself, muttering, “Why the hell am I hiding?"

Why? Because she didn't want to meet Maddie.

Speaking of the devil, Maddie appeared right in front of her.

"I remember you. Your name is..." Maddie paused to think. Suddenly, she smiled. "Bethany, right?"

"That's right." Bethany, though embarrassed, straightened her back and forced a smile in return.

Maddie pointed at Jonathan in the distance. “I think Jonathan's looking for you. You should go to him."
