Chapter: 455
“Just wondering why you suddenly went to Brokdon! Bates Group doesn't have any projects there." It was clear Nikolas was probing.

He was well aware of what Brokdon meant to Jonathan.

Jonathan kept his tone even as he said, "Just taking a walk."

Nikolas teased, "A walk to Bethany's hometown, huh? Don't hide it. I know you. I know you've sneaked off to Brokdon before, chasing old memories, haven't you? Jonathan, you really should move on. She's already—"

Nikolas always hesitated at this point.

Jonathan waited for him to finish, but instead, Nikolas changed the subject. “Look, Bates Group has a lot on its plate. You shouldn't waste time dwelling on the past with Bethany. Besides, there's talk about your marriage. Several shareholders have been asking me for details. What should I tell them?"

“That's my personal business."

"Sure, it's personal, but you're the president of Bates Group! If you were just anyone, you could marry whomever you like. It's different for you."

"If anyone has questions, they can come to me."

Nikolas sighed. "I don't understand. What's so special about Bethany besides her looks? Both you and Ryan are obsessed with her. You dropped everything to rush to Brokdon, and Ryan followed you there. Are you guys working together or what?"

Jonathan asked, "Who? Ryan?"

“Yes, my friend who's also interested in Bethany! I spoke to him earlier, and he mentioned he's in Brokdon too." Nikolas then realized something. "Ah! Bethany's there now, isn't she?"

Jonathan remained silent.

But Nikolas had already discerned the answer. "No wonder! I can't believe you two! Jonathan, listen to me. Forget about Bethany."

Jonathan was silent for almost a minute. Just when Nikolas thought Jonathan was considering his advice, Jonathan abruptly requested, "Give me the information about Ryan."

Nikolas snapped, "You are beyond help."

Jonathan agreed.

He was indeed beyond help.

He would be deceiving himself if he claimed he could forget Bethany and start anew.

In reality, if she called for him, he would rush to her side without hesitation, like a moth to a flame.

Meanwhile, Bethany was returning to her hotel when she called Ryan.

As soon as the connection was made, Ryan's voice boomed from the other end.

“Where are you? Are you okay? Who are you with?"

Bethany sighed. "Slow down. Don't be so anxious. I'm fine. I was drunk yesterday. A friend found me and got me a room to rest in.”
