Chapter: 463
Poor Jonathan, still lingering in the past, seemingly waiting for something-perhaps a miracle.
“Don't say it!" Ryan cut in sharply. “Don't tell him."
“Why are you so tense?" Nikolas was startled by the urgency in Ryan's voice.
"As a man, I empathize with him. I find myself in a similar position, loving someone I can't be with. Putting myself in Jonathan's shoes, I know hearing such news would only cause immense pain."
Nikolas exhaled deeply. "You're right. I won't mention it then. You went to Brokdon this time for Bethany, didn't you?"
"Yes, I did go for Bethany, but my reasons are different from Jonathan's. I sent her on a business trip to Brokdon. Now that she's encountered trouble, it's my responsibility to handle it. Unfortunately, our partnership with Owlimited Company has collapsed, and with Owlimited Company out of the picture, we're preparing to leave."
"Just because Bethany was on a business trip and got into trouble, you personally intervened. Who are you trying to fool by claiming your intentions are purely professional?"
"I admire Bethany; that's all. She didn't even glance at Jonathan. How could I possibly stand a chance?" Ryan said.
Nikolas nodded. "You're right."
Ryan chatted with Nikolas for a bit before hanging up the phone.
He quickly called Colt and instructed him to inform Bethany about an urgent matter in Westsilver and to ask her to go back.
Jonathan was in Brokdon too. Ryan wasn't going to let Jonathan get close to Bethany.
After ending the call, Ryan was about to lock his phone screen, but his eyes accidentally caught a glimpse of a saved number.
It was Maddie's number.
He had stolen it from Nikolas's phone.
Yet, he didn't make the call.
It wasn't the right time yet. He didn't want to complicate things further.
When Colt made the call, Bethany was still thinking over the driver.
She was eager to meet him and find out what had happened and how she overcame the effects of the drug.
“I need you in Westsilver. When are you coming back?" Colt asked.
“Nothing is keeping me here. I'll return tomorrow or the day after. Ryan is in Brokdon too. I'll check with him," Bethany replied.
"Okay!"
After ending the call, Bethany checked her phone again, but the driver still hadn't responded.
The more she waited, the more anxious she became!
