Chapter: 486
“I heard a boy who looked just Like Jonathan was at the office today."
Nikolas felt a heavy weight settle on his shoulders.
He knew Maddie would discover it sooner or later.
“Yeah, it looks that way."
“Don't play dumb. The security couldn't find Jonathan so they sent the kid to your office. Don't pretend you don't know Maddie wasted no time calling Nikolas the moment she heard the news."
She couldn't afford to waste any time.
Nikolas sighed deeply, his frustration seeping into his words. “Why are you grilling me? This kid isn't mine, and I didn't bring him here."
“Then where is he now?" Maddie demanded.
Glancing briefly at Rowan, Nikolas replied, "I have no clue."
“And where did he go in the end?"
“I don't know."
“Then who picked him up?"
“I have no idea."
"Nikolas!" Maddie got angry. "This is serious! If that kid is Jonathan's, have you even thought about what this means for me?"
Maddie couldn't bear to think about the implications if it turned out to be true. Could she accept Jonathan having a child with someone else?
"What's bothering you? Why does it matter if the kid is Jonathan's?"
Nikolas couldn't understand her anxiety. “You and Jonathan are just friends now. Maybe to him, you're just another employee. His father pushed him into hiring you. This kid doesn't concern you."
“I can't see myself as a stepmom!"
“Don't worry. Jonathan isn't planning to make you one."
Maddie was at a loss for words.
Nikolas said seriously, "You need to accept this. Don't think about marrying Jonathan. It won't happen; he won't agree."
"But his mother—"
"Are you thinking of marrying his mother?" Nikolas snapped, unable to contain his frustration.
Over the past few years, Maddie had immersed herself in daydreams, often meddling in Jonathan's personal affairs.
