Chapter: 499
Jonathan had a point!

At that time, he had merely heard the doctor advise Bethany to talk to her husband, but the specifics of that conversation came entirely from Bethany herself.

Observing Nikolas‘ increasingly pale expression, Jonathan's heart raced.

He grabbed Nikolas's shirt and pulled him closer. "You didn't actually hear the doctor mention she was there for infertility issues, did you?"

"No. The doctor never said that."

"Which hospital was it?"

"No. 2 Hospital."

"The same hospital where Bethany's mother was treated?"

"Yes," Nikolas confirmed with a nod.

Jonathan turned to leave.

Nikolas hurried after him. "Where are you going?"

“I need to go to the hospital to find out if she was actually pregnant!"

"Jonathan, please, take a moment to calm down," Nikolas urged as he clutched at Jonathan's clothes. "True, I didn't hear the doctor say she was infertile, but that doesn't automatically mean she was pregnant or that the young boy is hers. I can help you investigate further. Why don't you go and look for the boy first?"

“Don't try to stop me. I need to know the truth," Jonathan said, pulling away from Nikolas' grasp. “Whatever the truth is, I'm ready to face the consequences."

He understood Nikolas was trying to hold him back because if Bethany had been pregnant back then, it would catch him completely off guard.

But what Nikolas didn't realize was that Jonathan was prepared to risk everything for Bethany at any moment.

As Jonathan walked away decisively, Nikolas felt a deep sense of worry.

The issue between Jonathan and Bethany wasn't just about the child.

It was Bethany's mother's death.

But Jonathan was completely clueless.

If the child turned out to indeed be Bethany's, the situation could become even more complicated.

If Jonathan knew Bethany had given birth to his child, he would feel a sense of duty to marry her.

But Bethany would never marry him.

Nikolas shuddered at the thought of Jonathan's parents discovering the truth.
