Chapter: 50
“If it weren't for Maddie, Mr. Bates could've fallen in love with you!"
Jonathan? In love with her? Ridiculous!
Bethany couldn't wrap her head around such a wild concept.
"I have to focus on building a career and making money," she said with a helpless smile. "I don't have the time to think about such things."
"Bethany!" Aimee sighed in defeat. “You're so pretty. It's a pity you don't know how to use it to your advantage!"
Bethany chuckled, amused by Aimee's words. While they were chatting, a notification popped up on her computer screen.
Someone named Brody had sent her a message. "Good day, Miss Holt. Brody here. Mr. Bates asked me to contact you, so if it's alright with you, could we exchange numbers?"
Bethany hurriedly emailed him her phone number, secretly feeling elated.
Seeing her like this, Aimee, who initially wanted to persuade her to get a boyfriend, decided not to say anything more on the matter.
The truth was, very few men could handle the pressure of Bethany's mother's condition. It wasn't that men were heartless, but it was a gamble; no one knew how much time or money it would take to cure Marie.
The only thing Aimee could do was hope for the best for Bethany and let life take its course.
After exchanging numbers with Brody, Bethany added him on WhatsApp.
If Jonathan hadn't helped her, she never would've had the chance to connect with the secretary of Bates Group's CEO.
“When we arrive in Brokdon, I'll teach you how to conduct the preliminary research work for SNS. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me."
Although Bethany hadn't met Brody before, his texts felt oddly familiar.
It was clear that those around Jonathan were influenced by him.
"Okay, thank you so much," Bethany replied. "I look forward to working with you."
The project with Zucron Company was nearly complete, with only the final contract left to be signed. Bethany needed to review the contract drafted by the legal department. She spent the entire day gathering information on energy saving and environmental protection.
Currently, haze and air pollution were top priorities, with authorities supporting and endorsing companies in this sector.
Consequently, Bates Group had made this their flagship project, participating in every lucrative venture related to this nationwide.
Bethany diligently took notes on all the materials she gathered, organized and compiled them into a document, and then printed an extra copy. She reviewed everything she could about these companies ‘ from their models to their revenue performances, operational rates, comparing them to key developed countries.
Bethany worked through lunch, only stopping when she received a call from the hospital.
"Hello?"
"Miss Holt, your mother has suddenly fainted!" The doctor's urgent voice indicated a serious situation.
