“She wouldn't, would she?" Maddie had been brought to tears by his distrust, appearing truly distressed.

If she was deceiving him, she was an excellent actress.

Jonathan said, “Without concrete proof, I can't point fingers. I just hope she hasn't done anything."

He knew that if Maddie were implicated, his mother would certainly defend her.

Handling Maddie alone was feasible, but with his mother's backing, the situation would be more complex.

Nikolas sighed and shifted the topic, saying, “By the way, how did your investigation at the hospital turn out? Was Bethany pregnant or infertile?"

“The hospital records have been wiped."

“What? Do you think Bethany could have done that?"

“She doesn't have the means to do that." Jonathan knew there's only one person who could and would be quite motivated-Francine.

However, from what he gathered, she likely wasn't aware of Bethany's pregnancy. It seemed more probable that she intended to delete something else, and Bethany's records were erased in the process.

Or Bethany might not have registered under her own name for medical treatment.

Jonathan also investigated Bethany's associates, including Aimee, but discovered no leads. Aimee's medical history was spotless.

Out of the blue, Jonathan asked in a serious tone, "Do you have any information about Bethany's mother's death?"

Nikolas hesitated for a long time before responding, "How would I know that? I'm not connected to Bethany."

"ALL the records concerning Bethany's mother's death have also been wiped. It seems like the hospital records were completely destroyed after a certain date."

It appeared that Bethany's records were deleted by chance. Her previous records, including those for minor ailments, were still accessible.
