Chapter: 530
But her presence today proved she still had feelings for Jonathan.
And based on their past interactions, Brody never thought of her as heartless.
Brody started, “So, you're saying Mr. Bates’ mother.."
“Brody, I can't say anything without proof. There's no point in asking for more. After I leave Odonset tomorrow morning, I'm leaving the country for good. You won't have to worry about me bothering him again. Believe it or not, I truly want him to be happy," Bethany declared.
Considering Jonathan's earnestness about love, he deserved a relationship that both started and ended well, one that brought happiness.
With those words, Bethany turned to go.
As he watched her walk away, Brody suddenly called out, "Bethany!"
Bethany paused and turned back. “What is it?"
“Today, Mr. Bates got drunk. I've been looking after him," Brody explained.
"He got drunk?"
"Yes, I've never seen him this drunk. He couldn't even stand on his own."
Hearing he was drunk, only one thought filled Bethany's mind.
"Brody, I..." Her voice faltered.
"The door code is BHO0825. Feel free to enter. While I may not know the full story between you two, I believe you're not a bad person. You're simply navigating a difficult path," Brody reassured.
In Bethany's eyes, Brody glimpsed an undeniable depth of affection.
If their paths couldn't intertwine, perhaps these fleeting moments could be cherished forever.
Tears welled in Bethany's eyes instantly. She wiped them away, concealing her vulnerability. “Thank you. I... I'll just go in for a moment. He won't even know."
“I'm not concerned about him discovering anything. I'm worried he'll awaken from this reverie, feeling even worse." Brody sighed, turning back to his car. "Mr. Bates loves you deeply. As a man, I can't fathom loving someone with such intensity."
"I know," Bethany whispered.
She knew it all, and that was why it hurt so much.
As Brody drove off, Bethany approached the entrance to East Shade Bay with measured steps, barefoot and silent.
With each press of the keypad, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
This would mark her final entrance into his world.
Bethany walked in barefoot, not daring to make a sound.
