Chapter: 529
This dedication was the true reason behind Bates Group's solid reputation in the business realm-not mere luck, as some speculated, but intense, sustained effort.
Bethany remained there, lost in her thoughts, until she felt the first drops of rain.
The rain began to fall.
She had anticipated it, yet with the possibility that this might be her final visit to Odonset, she had come to revisit the place that held her dearest memories.
As time passed, the rain intensified.
Suddenly, the living room lights went out.
Bethany assumed he had retired for the night, prompting her to brave the elements and move from beneath the tree to stand by the door.
In the very next moment, the door swung open!
Bethany spun around, ready to flee, but the person inside beat her to speech.
"Bethany?" Brody exclaimed.
Bethany froze, realizing she had been caught red-handed.
Noticing her hesitation, Brody quickly approached. "It really is you!" he said, his initial surprise fading into a stern, displeased expression. "What are you doing here?"
“Just passing by," Bethany managed to say, scrambling for an excuse.
Brody chuckled. “Just passing by East Shade Bay? This isn't exactly a detour. So, where are you really going?"
Bethany was caught in her deception and remained silent.
“Bethany, I just can't figure you out! Our CEO bent over backwards trying to make amends with you multiple times, and you didn't soften even slightly. And now you show up here? To see the results of your actions?" Brody's voice was edged with accusation.
"Brody..." Bethany wasn't upset by his rebuke; she understood how fiercely Brody defended Jonathan. To him, her choices must have seemed overly harsh. "I have my reasons."
"Reasons? What issues could Mr. Bates not resolve for you?" Brody had pondered whether Bethany had a valid reason to part ways with Jonathan, but what could it possibly be?
Bates Group might not have been omnipotent, but their influence was widespread, and Jonathan was known for his resilience. What problem could be too great to overcome?
Bethany dropped her gaze and curled her Lips into a wry smile.
“Could he kill his mother for me?"
Brody was struck silent.
"Brody, if you truly care about him, please don't mention our talk or that I was here," Bethany implored.
Brody fixed his gaze on Bethany, trying to read the sincerity behind her words.
