Chapter: 535
"You sure know how to stir up trouble! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when you begged me to hack a conglomerate as big as Bates Group. If you didn't beg me so much, I'd have charged at least fifty million dollars for a job like this! "Well... I guess that means I'm the special one after all!"

Rowan playfully added a tongue-out emoji at the end of his text.

The next second, B7 logged out of the chat.

Rowan smiled in satisfaction. He knew that this meant B7 had agreed to his request. After all, while his teacher always appeared and disappeared without a trace, he was never stingy when it came to helping him.

With Jayson by her side, Bethany finally felt free to let herself go and drank glass after glass of wine.

Jayson, on the other hand, barely touched his drink, since he still had to take care of Bethany afterwards.

And for once, he didn't try to stop her from downing all that wine.

After all, how often did one get to drown their sorrows in alcohol?

Sometimes, when life was too much to bear, alcohol was the answer.

"Jayson, why do I feel so miserable? It hurts so much! But I don't have the right to feel this way, do I?"

On the way back to the hotel, a red-faced Bethany clung to Jayson like a leech, grasping at his sleeve as she wailed repeatedly.

"You do. You have every right to feel this way!" After all, she gave birth to two kids for Jonathan.

Of course, Jayson didn't say the last part out loud.

He allowed Bethany to pour out all her feelings under the influence of alcohol, and seeing her do so actually made him feel a little less worried. At least she wasn't letting her emotions get pent up inside of her.

When they got to the hotel, Jayson tried to help Bethany inside, but the latter waved him off.

"I don't want to go back to that dark room. Let's sit out here for a while."

"Alright." Jayson fetched two chairs from the hotel lobby. "Sit here, not on the ground. The floor's dirty.”

Eyes watery, Bethany nodded like an obedient child.

The two sat down, and Bethany continued to lament. Jayson didn't say much, always the listener.

Bethany closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks. Seeing this, Jayson quietly took out a tissue and gently wiped them away.

“We're over. We broke up a long time ago. I made my choice when we divorced. Isn't this what I wanted? So, why does it hurt so much? It hurts right here!" Bethany clutched her chest, her tears flowing freely now. “I can't stand to see Jonathan with another woman. I thought I could, but I really can't!"

Jayson sighed. "Time will heal all wounds."

“You really think so?" Bethany looked at him, her eyes filled with hope. "Can I really erase Jonathan from my mind?"

“As long as you try to move forward and don't look back."
