Chapter: 534
Nola shook her head. "No."

She was confused. How could she have seen him?

"I'll find a photo for you!" Rowan declared, his fingers swiping across the screen a few times before pulling up a photo of Jonathan.

He presented the photo to Nola, who only needed a glance before she burst out, "Ah! This is the guy who swindled me out of one dollar!"

"Have you seen him before?"

Nola nodded emphatically. “Yes! He promised to buy me candy with my money, then Mom called me over, and he never gave it back!"

"He swindles children out of money? What a lowlife!"

Suddenly, it clicked for Nola. “So that's what jerk means! Yep, that's him, a real jerk! Rowan, do you know where he is now? Can you get my money back?"

She had earned that money herself.

"Don't worry, I'm on it," Rowan assured her. "I'm going through his company's data right now to find something I can use against him."

Nola didn't understand data, but she understood “against him" perfectly well.

So, deep into the night, while Nola offered her moral support, Rowan searched for any loophole he could find.

By the break of dawn, however, he had come up empty.

Unsatisfied, he was determined to look elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Nola had nodded off in her chair, drooling slightly yet gripping her small purse tightly in her sleep.

Rowan looked over at his sister, sighed deeply, and reconsidered.

Initially, he had thought to include her in his plans for retribution, but it now seemed more trouble than it was worth.

“Maybe not," he murmured.

Last time, Rowan didn't even get to meet his father before getting kidnapped.

His expression darkened a the memory. He was not someone to be messed with.

Buzz!

Just then, a message popped up on Rowan's phone.

It was from B7, Rowan's teacher. “Hey, did you go after your dad?"

Pouting, Rowan replied, “I'm trying! You'll help me, right?"
