Chapter: 540
A name flashed through Nikolas' mind-Maddie-but he pushed that thought aside for the moment.
“Just tell me where you are, and I'll come to get you myself!"
"Okay."
After ending the call, Nikolas wasted no time and called his assistants over.
“Head over to this address and pick up a little boy. Make sure there are no slip-ups!" he commanded, his voice laced with concern, ensuring there would be no errors in this critical mission.
As the assistants began to leave, Nikolas abruptly stopped them.
“Wait! I'll handle this myself."
He remembered the last incident, where his negligence had resulted in the child's kidnapping. Though the details of how Rowan had managed to escape were unclear, he knew he couldn't let such a lapse occur again.
For added security, he decided to take the assistants along. Once settled in the car, he dialed Jonathan's number.
Jonathan seemed reluctant to answer, letting the phone ring several times before he finally picked up.
"If this call isn't about work, I don't have time," he said curtly.
“It's not directly work-related, but your son just reached out to me. I'm on my way to pick him up right now!" Nikolas blurted out.
The mention of his son left Jonathan visibly shocked, though he quickly regained his composure.
“Send me the location. I'll be there as well," he responded with a newfound urgency.
"Alright!" Nikolas quickly sent the coordinates, paused to gather his courage, and then added, “Your son mentioned he was kidnapped. You might want to look into Maddie."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Nikolas stared out of the car window, letting out a sigh.
If Maddie was truly responsible, she was beyond redemption. He couldn't continue to shield her without implicating himself.
He clung to the hope that she was innocent as she claimed.
In the meantime, Jayson had picked up more liquor, finally pleasing Bethany.
He ended up carrying her to her room since she was too inebriated to walk on her own.
The following morning, he stepped out to get some warm milk. Bethany didn't stir until the milk had gone cold.
"Headache?" Jayson inquired, noticing Bethany's grimace as she woke.
He hastened to bring her the warmed-up milk.
