Chapter: 549
"And then what? Are you expecting me to keep hiding this for you? Maddie, I regret not telling Jonathan sooner about your actions towards Bethany's mother!"
He had genuinely believed Maddie would cease her scheming once Bethany was out of the picture.
He also suspected that another man had come between Bethany and Jonathan, leading to their split.
However, the more he learned about Maddie, the more the horrifying reality dawned on him.
"I didn't do it! It was Jonathan's parents who orchestrated everything! Nikolas, what influence could I possibly have? I was merely following their commands. You must believe me!" Terrified, Maddie reached out to clutch Nikolas' hand, her eyes wide with fear.
She couldn't afford to let her plans unravel now.
Before she could marry Jonathan and have his child, the truth needed to stay buried.
Securing her status as Jonathan's wife was crucial; she needed an unshakable Link to Jonathan.
“Get away from me. I can't stand liars," Nikolas snapped, pulling his hand away and making his way to the door.
Maddie, desperate, blocked his exit, even using her body to bar his path.
"Nikolas, listen to me! You can confirm it with Jonathan's parents. I was only following their commands!"
"I don't care. You should explain it to Jonathan, not me. I'm done being part of this," Nikolas retorted coldly, his voice cutting through the air as he brushed past Maddie and strode towards the elevator.
He was likely heading to East Shade Bay, where Jonathan often retreated when not at the office.
Realizing this could be her final opportunity, Maddie clenched her fists, her resolve hardening.
If this was how it had to be...
"Nikolas, if you force my hand, don't blame me for the consequences!"
At East Shade Bay, Jonathan had cleared his schedule of several meetings to spend quality time with his son and build a relationship with him.
Since this son had come into his life unexpectedly, Jonathan felt somewhat at a loss and awkward around Rowan.
"So... what would you like to eat?"
Rowan glanced at him and settled on the sofa. "Didn't we just eat?"
“Then maybe something to drink or some snacks? I can get someone to buy them." Jonathan was unsure of how to keep a child entertained, so he guessed at what children might enjoy.
However, his son was not a typical child. “What about the computer you promised? I want to play on it."
Jonathan immediately instructed Brody to bring the computer.
But before doing so, he asked, “Did you mess with Bates Group's software?"
