Chapter: 55
"Okay, thanks." He nodded and went into the bathroom with his night robe.

She stood by the bathroom door, waiting quietly.

When he finally emerged, Bethany beckoned at him with the hair dryer.

"Let me dry your hair for you."

"Okay."

He sat down on the edge of the bed, occasionally glancing at her with a faint smile.

Worried he might catch a cold, Bethany meticulously dried out his hair.

When she was done, Jonathan suddenly reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I have to go to the company in two hours."

"Don't worry," she said, misunderstanding him. "I'll make sure you're awake in time!"

"I mean, I don't want to sleep anymore."

Before Bethany could react, he made her lie down and climbed on top of her.

“Jonathan. .."

"Just once, okay?"

This time, Bethany didn't protest; instead, she quietly wrapped her arms around his neck.

Jonathan was always gentle in bed, caring about her feelings. As they moved together rhythmically, she almost forgot herself, but the tattoo on his collarbone pulled her back to earth.

Oh, right-this man only saw her as a substitute for Maddie.

His consideration and care was meant for someone else.

But in the heat of the moment, Bethany just looked away and closed her eyes.

For now, she wanted to forget and lose herself in his love.

The following morning, when Bethany woke up, the apartment was eerily quiet; Jonathan was nowhere to be found.

It was the weekend, so she began her morning routine: washing her face, tidying up the house, and packing the prepared food for her mother's visit.

Arriving at the ward, Bethany was taken aback to see two men stationed at the door. They looked like they had stepped out of a TV drama, clad in black with stern, unyielding expressions.

As she approached, they immediately blocked her path.

"You can't go in without permission," one of them stated firmly.
