Chapter: 566
“Dinner's not done. You're staying right here."
"You're picking on me! I'll start crying!"
Jonathan gave a nonchalant shrug. “Cry if you must. There's no one around East Shade Bay to hear you, anyway."
Rowan went quiet. He knew that well enough. On his first day, he had checked all the nearby electronic devices and found only a handful.
It was clear this area was lightly populated.
Jonathan piled some meat and vegetables onto Rowan's plate. “Come on, eat up."
Rowan was famished, particularly since the small taste earlier had only intensified his hunger.
Despite this, he remained wary. "No more questions from you! I won't spill a single thing."
Jonathan gave a sly smile and blurted out, “Did your mom have your sister after she married someone else?"
“She never married someone else! Uh..." Rowan caught himself too late, realizing his words had betrayed him. “I've lost my appetite. I want to go!"
“Just eat. I promise, no more questions for today."
"But you just-"
“I didn't promise anything. That was your point, remember? Now, I'm giving you my word. No more questions today," Jonathan insisted, understanding the need to tread lightly. They had all the time they needed.
Today had brought a significant discovery: not only did he possibly have a son, but a daughter as well.
It was clear Rowan's mother hadn't married someone else; his slip appeared honest, not fabricated. This suggested that the girl could very well be his daughter too.
Could they be twins?
He was certain that it couldn't be anything else.
“What? I have to report to Bates Group?"
Bethany couldn't hide her shock when she got the call from HR.
How was this possible? Why was Bates Group contacting her? Did Jonathan suspect her of something?
"You've been reassigned to Bates Group because Goldwald Company has been acquired by them, and we've transferred your employment accordingly."
"That can't be right!" Why would Ryan sell the company to Jonathan?
"I need to confirm this."
“Of course, feel free to check."
