Chapter: 570
"You think I can't see through your schemes?" Ryan asked, his voice heavy with contempt.
Without Bethany around, Jonathan wouldn't have even given Goldwald Company a second glance. The intention of Jonathan's recent acquisition was clear as day.
“What proof do you have?" Jonathan challenged.
Jonathan, towering slightly over Ryan, looked down at him with a discernible tilt of his head.
“Maybe you should be buying more shares to secure your spot as the top shareholder, instead of wasting time here," he suggested.
"Of course, I will!" Ryan retorted sharply.
A subtle smile crossed Jonathan's face. "I hear you plans to bid double my offer for the shares."
Ryan straightened up, a sneer flickering across his face. “Exactly, that's my plan! And I'm paying in cash."
Jonathan, standing tall across from Ryan, nodded as if he were merely receiving a report from a junior.
“Sounds impressive, quite tempting. Best of luck with that," Jonathan remarked before turning to head to his car.
Feeling completely undermined, Ryan's anger flared. He stepped quickly in front of Jonathan's car, blocking his path.
"Jonathan, I can't believe you're such a coward! After everything, you refuse to confess you want to rekindle things with Bethany!"
“Did I ever deny it?"
Ryan was taken aback.
“Everyone close to me knows Bethany is the only one I love. If that's news to you, that's your issue," Jonathan added.
“Jonathan, just because you took over Goldwald Company doesn't mean you can win Bethany back! She divorced you. What more needs to be said?"
With a nonchalant shrug, Jonathan pointed at Ryan and then towards his car. "Ryan, get out of my way."
"Yous"
Before Ryan could finish, Jonathan was already in his car, speeding away and vanishing from sight within moments.
“Damn it!" Ryan cursed, unable to contain his frustration as his phone began to ring.
It was his secretary on the Line.
"Mr. Blakely, we're running low on acquisition funds."
“How much have we managed to secure so far?" He needed to control over 17% of the shares to own a majority 51% stake in Goldwald Company and secure his position as the principal shareholder.
The secretary paused, searching for the right words.
