Chapter: 582
Her escape plan was thwarted.
Feeling embarrassed, Bethany quickly stepped out of the elevator and pulled Brody aside. She whispered, "Did you tell him I went there when he was drunk that day?"
“No, I promised you I wouldn't," Brody reassured her.
Bethany was puzzled. "Then what does Jonathan want?"
It wasn't like Jonathan to abruptly acquire Goldwald Company and speak to her in public.
Brody shrugged, spreading his hands. "I don't know either! As for the acquisition of Goldwald Company, Mr. Bates only told the shareholders that he simply wanted to. There was no other explanation."
Bethany remained confused.
Could it be because Jonathan had grown more childish and impulsive after four years?
To be honest, the way Jonathan was handling things seemed more like Nikolas’ style.
"Bethany, don't overthink it. Mr. Bates has his reasons."
“But the situation is different now. You know my history with him. Now that he has a partner, it's incredibly humiliating for me to be here as his ex-wife." She couldn't believe Jonathan hadn't considered this.
Brody smiled helplessly. "Do you think it's possible that Mr. Bates doesn't have a new partner at all?"
"But he does." Bethany insisted, recalling the bite marks on his body, undeniable evidence of intimate encounters.
"Did Mr. Bates tell you that himself?"
"No," she said, seeing the marks with her own eyes.
"Then it's very likely to be just a rumor."
Bethany frowned. She couldn't reveal to Brody what she had seen.
“Regardless, he must have a partner. They live together! Brody, is it possible for you to transfer me out of Bates Group?"
Before Brody could respond, Jonathan's voice suddenly came from behind her.
"It isn't possible."
"Oh, Mr. Bates! You're here! I'll take my leave now, then," said Brody.
"Alright."
As Brody caught sight of Jonathan, a wide smile spread across his face. He gave a cheerful wave to Bethany, bidding her goodbye before he left.
ALL Bethany wished for at that moment was for Brody to take her along with him.
