Chapter: 601
Of course. Bethany should've expected such a result. If Jonathan was willing to go after Ryan, why would he spare Jayson?
“Jonathan, I need to meet B7. It's urgent." Bethany spoke with unprecedented firmness. Meeting the hacker was her only hope at finding her mother's killer, and she wasn't going to let anyone-not even Jonathan-stand in her way.
“If I'm in a good mood, I might consider letting you see him."
Bethany gnashed her teeth, her patience having run out a long time ago. "Then what would put you in a good mood?"
"Come back to East Shade Bay with me."
Jonathan's words had a way of getting twisted.
Noticing the vigilance in Bethany's eyes, Jonathan let his tone soften, the wild glint fading. He returned to his usual gentlemanly self.
"I just want to have dinner with you," he said.
"Will you take me to meet B7 after that?"
"Yes."
Bethany had no choice now.
With a resigned sigh, she crossed the street to where Jayson's car was parked.
She knocked on the window, but before she could speak, Jayson blurted out, "Bethany, I suddenly can't find B7!"
"Jonathan took him," she said flatly.
Jayson's face flushed with anger. “I'll talk to Jonathan."
Bethany grabbed his arm. "He's irrational right now. Don't provoke him! It's not smart to confront him. You should go back. I'll handle it."
"I can't leave you alone with Jonathan. He just..."
“Jayson, I'm so close to the truth! I can't afford any setbacks now."
“But if Jonathan finds out why you're looking for B7, he'll destroy the evidence. Do you really think he'll choose you over his parents?"
Of course not.
Bethany understood Jonathan's dilemma.
A son should protect his parents, especially with his mother gravely ill. Sending her to prison was a death sentence in itself.
"That's why I have to calm Jonathan down first. Then I'll find a way to contact B7 without him knowing. If I miss this chance, we might never meet B7," Bethany reasoned, her voice firm and unwavering.
Jayson searched for a counterargument but came up empty.
