Chapter: 602
“Bethany, I'm afraid he'll force you into something."

"He said he just wants to have dinner with me."

"And you believe him?"

Bethany nodded. "I believe him. He's never lied to me."

As Jayson's car drove away, Bethany felt a pang of unease but pushed it aside.

She turned back to find Jonathan waiting, a lit cigarette dangling between his fingers.

The slap mark on his face had faded, and the blood around his lips had dried. His usually neat hair was slightly disheveled, giving him a rougher look than usual.

He had taken off his suit jacket and draped it over his arm. Despite his appearance, he still carried an air of nobility, an inherent superiority that was impossible to ignore.

ALL of this came natural to him.

Jonathan's eyes followed her every move as Bethany approached. He had seen her talk to Jayson and now watched her return obediently. His thin lips curled into a smile, reopening the wound and causing fresh blood to trickle down.

"We can go now." Bethany kept her head down, not wanting Jonathan to see through her thoughts. After a few steps, she couldn't help but take a tissue from her bag and hand it to him. "Wipe your mouth."

Jonathan smiled, wiping his lower lip with his fingertip. “No. I wished you bit me harder."

He wanted the wound to linger so he could recall today's kiss a few more times.

"Are you insane?" she asked, incredulous.

He lowered his eyes and said, "Yes, I need to see a doctor."

There was a vulnerability in his voice, a hint of the torment he'd been enduring from his constant thoughts of Bethany.

Bethany retorted, “Don't think I won't fight back just because you're acting like this. If you try that again, I will definitely bite you harder!"

Jonathan's hand, holding the cigarette, paused. He looked up, his beautiful eyes so deep they seemed to swallow her. “Really?”

“Jonathan! Stop flirting with me!" Bethany yelled.

Jonathan merely shrugged and put out his cigarette. "I'm a businessman, after all. I have to consider if exchanging your kiss for a bite is worthwhile."

Bethany ignored Jonathan's words and continued walking, her head bowed.

With an expression as serious as if he were discussing a business deal, Jonathan asked, "Is there an upper limit to kisses?"

Bethany thought Jonathan was hopeless.

The news that Bethany had returned to work at Bates Group quickly reached Maddie.
