"I won't let you go again."

Bethany hadn't expected such peaceful sleep in days, especially not at East Shade Bay, in Jonathan's home.

The next morning, as she stirred, she felt a small hand gripping her garment.

Rowan hadn't let go the entire night.

Bethany instinctively checked his forehead; there was no fever. His expression was relaxed, suggesting that his stomach was fine.

She quietly left the bed. As she stepped out of the room, delicious smells wafted from the kitchen.

For a brief moment, Bethany almost thought she had traveled back four years.

"Awake? Breakfast is ready." Jonathan emerged from the kitchen, drying his hands and speaking in a calm, natural tone that it was as if they had always lived this way.

“Jonathan, I need to see B7."

"Have a seat first." Jonathan pulled out a chair for her and sat down, his dark eyes intently fixed on her. "Can you tell me why you need to see him?"

Bethany instantly went on high alert, her eyes wary. "No! That's my personal business!"

“I'm not trying to pry. I just thought if you shared, I might be able to help."

Help her?

Bethany scoffed.

Jonathan only offered because he was unaware of the specifics.

"No need, I'll speak with B7 myself! Jonathan, I trust you'll keep your word."

"Of course, finish your breakfast, and we'll go."

Bethany was eager to leave, but Jonathan was eating, making it impossible for her to rush him. So, she took a sip of her milk.

“What about Rowan? He's still asleep. Should I wake him for breakfast?"

"He likes to sleep late. I've kept his breakfast warm in the kitchen. He'll eat when he's ready." Jonathan had already taken care of Rowan's breakfast.

Observing how well he managed everything, Bethany felt a pang of regret.

She hadn't made breakfast for Rowan once. Here at Jonathan's, he was pampered like a prince, with everything catered to him.

She remained silent, focusing on her food.

Then, out of nowhere, Jonathan said, “I was in Westsilver recently, staying at Dreamer Hotel. There, I met a little girl who loves candy."
