Chapter: 616
Bethany was speechless, her hand freezing as she nearly dropped her cup of milk.

Why was Jonathan bringing this up now? Was it another test?

"That little girl bore a striking resemblance to you, particularly her eyes." Jonathan reflected on the moment he first saw her, feeling an inexplicable sense of kinship.

He had never been particularly drawn to children-neither disliking them nor feeling any special fondness-yet he felt a unique pull towards that little girl.

Bethany completely lost her appetite and set down her cup. “What are you trying to imply? Just say it!"

"Nothing, just making conversation." Jonathan looked up, his expression innocent, which made Bethany feel like she might be overreacting.

"Don't get the wrong idea. I was in Westsilver for business, not to look for you. The resort project there is doing well. You've really improved your skills since you left Bates Group. I'm truly happy for you."

Bethany thought he had no hidden motives and began to relax when Jonathan surprised her again.

"Also, I bought some candies for that little girl, and her mother left me a business card at the front desk. I'll go get it from my briefcase-"

“Ahem!"

Bethany nearly leaped from her chair.

Jonathan was the one who had bought candies for Nola?

It was him?

She could hardly believe they had already crossed paths.

“How did you end up choking?" Jonathan handed her a tissue, feigning ignorance of her distress.

"I'm fine! Please hurry with breakfast." As he mentioned searching for the business card, Bethany felt on edge. "I'm anxious to get to B7!"

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. “Can't even spare a moment for me to find a business card?"

"Nol"

Bethany couldn't afford to let Jonathan find that card.

If he looked at it or even dialed the number, her name would be unmistakable.

"Alright, I'll change my clothes, and we can leave."

Jonathan didn't press her further. He wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up, heading back to his bedroom.

In truth, there was no business card.

He had chosen to leave it behind, trying to put Bethany out of his mind. The front desk had handed him the card, but he had refused.
