Chapter: 622
Bethany's phone rang just as she was about to exit the car.
Noticing it was Jayson, she assumed he wanted details about her meeting with B7. She quickly moved away from Jonathan before returning the call.
“Hello, Jayson!"
Instead of his usual composed tone, Jayson sounded deeply anxious.
"Bethany, I can't get ahold of Aimee! She took Nola out today and I didn't worry initially when she didn't answer this morning, but she's still not responding."
Bethany felt her heart drop, her pulse skyrocketing. “What should we do? I'm coming back right now!"
“Okay, I'm heading over to Aimee's place. We'll stay in contact."
After ending the call, Bethany dashed towards the garage exit.
Jonathan, who was just parking his car, noticed her panic and quickened his pace.
“Bethany! He caught up to her with a few long strides. “What's wrong?"
"Aimee is missing. I need to find her!"
"I'll come with you."
Bethany quickly declined, "No, you focus on your work."
If Jonathan became involved, he might discover Nola. With the circumstances still unclear-whether Aimee was actually abducted or merely unreachable-Bethany couldn't risk exposing more than necessary.
As she sprinted away, Jonathan's phone rang. It was Brody.
"Mr. Bates, Bethany's close friend, Aimee, has been kidnapped, along with the little girl."
"We need to track their location immediately! Send me the last known coordinates!"
Bethany flagged down a taxi outside the garage, her mind overwhelmed by the escalating crisis.
As the taxi approached Aimee's residence, her phone vibrated with a message from an unknown sender.
“Want your daughter to Live? Come to me quietly and tell no one! Disobey, and you'll be picking up her remains."
Bethany had just finished reading the message when the taxi driver turned around, offering her a sinister smile. “Miss Holt, I advise you not to resist needlessly."
At that moment, Bethany realized the true targets were not Aimee or Nola; they were after her.
Her phone began to ring-it was Jonathan.
She typically didn't silence her phone, and the driver heard it as well.
