Chapter: 623
He glanced at the caller ID, then sneered. "Hand over your phone, now! No tricks, or we'll see if you can get help faster than my men can send your daughter to her grave!"

"I'll give it to you." Bethany ended the call from Jonathan, powered off her phone, and handed it to the driver.

Satisfied with her compliance, the driver smirked. "You're quite pretty; no wonder you're such a thorn in someone's side!"

The phrase “thorn in someone's side" helped Bethany pinpoint the orchestrator of her kidnapping.

Only Maddie and Jonathan's parents would consider her such a significant threat.

It was clear they had discovered Nola and decided to act against her.

This was why she had been steering clear of Jonathan and his family, constantly evading them.

Now, they made their move.

Bethany tightened her grip, forcing herself to remain composed. She needed to strategize her escape; panicking wouldn't help.

"What does Maddie plan to do with us?"

She named the mastermind, which took the driver by surprise as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.

“We're not her people!"

"Then you must be working for the Bates family. You've kidnapped Jonathan's daughter. Have you considered what he'll do when he finds out?"

The driver chuckled at her words. "Is that supposed to scare me? I'm just doing a job. Once I drop you off, what happens to you isn't my concern. You'd better start praying for yourself."

Bethany watched as the car headed into a secluded area. She could attempt to jump out, but the risk of injury was high, and her child was still in their custody.

These people had taken her mother's life years ago; harming Aimee and Nola would be just as easy for them.

She had no other option but to comply.

The car eventually halted in a remote location, close to a river, as suggested by the sound of flowing water Bethany heard upon disembarking.

The driver was so confident in her compliance that he didn't bother to restrain her. He exited the car, then covered her head with a black cloth bag.

“Be good. You'll see your daughter soon."

Bethany was led forward for what seemed an eternity, guided by the sound of the man's footsteps and the nearby river.

Finally, they stopped.

A door creaked open with a rusty, grating noise.

"This is Bethany Holt."
