Chapter: 640
Godfrey wanted to get rid of Maddie. Her actions had brought too much chaos to the Bates family. Although Maddie had once saved his wife, they had supported her whenever she needed it. That should have been enough. But now, things had escalated.

Maddie had actually attempted to kill Jonathan.

Godfrey couldn't allow her to continue.

“Kill her." Godfrey's decision was firm, his expression icy.

He chose to grant Maddie a swift end.

"Yes, Mr. Bates."

As the bodyguard turned to leave, Francine, who had just regained consciousness and was wheeled over in a wheelchair, grabbed him and looked at Godfrey. "No! Maddie saved my life!"

“Haven't we repaid her enough?" Godfrey was livid, his voice cold and sharp. "I've tolerated enough. I thought if Jonathan married her, you'd be satisfied and things would settle down. But look at what Maddie has done!"

Godfrey never imagined that his wife would support murder for Maddie's sake.

They had caused Bethany's mother's death. Now, Francine even allowed Maddie to harm Jonathan's children. Though they wouldn't accept Bethany, her children were part of their family.

"Godfrey..."

"In your eyes, who matters more, your son or Maddie? You need to decide!"

“Maddie almost kill our son. Do you think I'm numb to that agony? But she's already lost her mind. Just leave her be." I swear to you, I won't lift a finger for her again. If she stirs up any more trouble, you can handle her!" Francine pleaded.

Godfrey struggled to comprehend his wife's stance.

It was as if Maddie was her own flesh and blood.

“She tried to take our son's life! And yet you defend her?"

“But the true instigator here is Bethany. Maddie's actions stem from desperation. She saw no future with Jonathan in this world, so she—"

"Stop!" Godfrey's tone chilled, but he softened at the sight of his wife's pleading eyes. “Just hope Jonathan makes it. Otherwise, I won't spare Maddie."

Francine nodded gravely. "At my age, if anything happens to Jonathan, I won't be far behind."

“You're just aiding her, aren't you?"

Godfrey sighed heavily just as a doctor emerged from the operating room.

Hurrying to him, he asked urgently, “How's my son?"

“He's in critical condition. He briefly regained consciousness during surgery and mentioned someone named ‘Bethany.' Who is she to him?"

Godfrey and Francine exchanged a significant glance.
