Chapter: 653
His perspective differed from Francine's. Francine supported Maddie and despised Bethany with all her heart, blaming Bethany for their current troubles. However, Godfrey didn't see it that way.

He simply felt that Bethany wasn't a suitable match for Jonathan.

Moreover, Francine had committed a grave act against Bethany's mother.

If Bethany were to marry into the Bates family and the truth about her mother's death came to light, the Bates family would be ridiculed.

Godfrey couldn't imagine the damage that would cause.

What he desired was a stable and peaceful family life. He wanted to avoid any more dramatic disruptions for his family.

“I won't claim the children have the Bates surname. You don't need to worry about that being known by others."

"Even if others don't find out, would Jonathan keep it a secret? He would surely seek out his children. Bethany, I don't want to speculate about your motives. My wife suspects you approached Jonathan for money, which I never believed. But if you insist on keeping the children with you, then..."

“May I use the phone?" Bethany suddenly seemed resolute.

“Of course." Godfrey was unsure of her intentions, but given they were in Wesden, he doubted she could accomplish much.

Bethany turned away and called the number left by B7.

It took a few tries before she connected.

The voice on the other end sounded groggy, likely just roused from sleep, and the tone was irritable. “What's up?"

"Sorry to disturb you. I need to know... When can you restore the data?"

B7 paused and yawned. “You need it urgently? Pay me more, and I'll prioritize your request."

Bethany pressed her lips together. She was out of money.

B7 understood what she meant. "If you can't pay, don't rush me! It'll take at least a month. Call me back then! Bye!"

Before Bethany could respond, the call ended.

Holding her phone tightly, Bethany faced Godfrey.

"I'll hand the children over to you, but I need to stay with Jonathan for a month, whether he is awake or not."

Godfrey raised an eyebrow. "Then he'll certainly want to keep you."

"No, he won't."

That wouldn't be the case once the hard drive was repaired.

“How can I trust you?" Godfrey asked.
