Chapter: 663
Nikolas, ignoring Aimee's outburst, turned to leave.
Suddenly, a distinct gurgling noise interrupted the silence at the hospital's entrance.
The space around them was open, amplifying the sound.
Hearing this, Nikolas paused and looked back at Aimee. With a raised eyebrow, he inquired, “Did you hear that sound?"
Flustered, Aimee clutched her stomach and retorted defiantly, "You heard nothing. There was no sound!"
"Alright then! I'm off to grab some food!" Nikolas declared. "Godfrey mentioned he's prepared a feast for me-seafood, meats. He insists I need to eat well after my car accident."
Aimee had rushed to the hospital straight from the airport, engaged in a verbal sparring match with Nikolas, and now her stomach was growling.
Nikolas was clearly trying to tantalize her with his talk of food.
“I heard that Godfrey was concerned Jonathan wouldn't enjoy the local cuisine, so he's brought in a chef from our hometown. Did you know that?"
Aimee wished she could silence Nikolas with a mere glare. "Could you leave now?"
Nikolas assumed an expression of feigned innocence. “Aren't you coming with me? If you're hungry, you might want to join me. Who knows how long you'll end up waiting here?"
“I am not going!"
“Really? Are you sure?"
Just then, a gurgling noise interrupted them.
"Come on, let's go. I'll overlook what you just said! If you end up starving, Jonathan will hold me responsible for not looking after his guest properly."
With that, Nikolas strode off. Soon, he heard footsteps following him.
A smile crept across his face.
He had won this round!
Jonathan had been moved to a standard ward. Though not all the medical devices were removed from him, there were significantly fewer now.
"Be careful not to disturb the wound, and keep it dry. Call me if the dressing needs changing," the female doctor instructed Bethany, handing over her contact number.
"Thank you. I haven't caught your name yet."
“Samira Shaw. Just call me Samira," she replied with a warm smile.
"Return to the patient and don't hesitate to call if you need anything."
“sure.”
