Chapter: 674
The person he loved was right beside him, yet he felt powerless.

“I... uh..." Jonathan struggled to find the words, opening and closing his mouth without making much sense. Finally, he sighed, defeated. "Never mind, you can stay."

He resolved to suppress his desires.

"If something's bothering you, just say it. Don't beat around the bush. How am I supposed to know if you don't tell me?" Bethany was genuinely puzzled.

She wondered if Jonathan didn't want her company.

"It's nothing," he muttered.

"Out with it! I need to know!" Bethany insisted, her tone firm.

Embarrassed, Jonathan turned away and murmured, “I've sustained a chest wound, but everything else is fine.”

Bethany arched an eyebrow and pressed, "Yes, and then?"

"Then..." Jonathan hesitated, his voice softening. "With you here, your scent surrounds me. I want to..."

Bethany glanced at Jonathan's flushed face, then at the lower part of his body, and realization dawned on her.

"How can you think about sex at a time like this?" It was astonishing. Jonathan, always so reserved and disciplined, seemed out of character.

He sighed, abandoning any attempt at justification.

“Bethany, I'm a man."

His needs were undeniable.

Without her, he had managed alone. But now, with her so close, how could he suppress his desires after such a long abstinence?

Bethany sat silently for a moment before suggesting tentatively, “Maybe you could ask Nikolas to find a woman for you?"

“Bethany Holt!"

Cowering slightly, Bethany retorted, “Why are you yelling? It's not like it's the first time you've been with someone else."

“What did you just say?"

Jonathan's expression clouded with confusion.

He sensed that Bethany's words held a different meaning.

"I meant exactly what I said," Bethany replied curtly. She didn't want to discuss it further. The thought of teeth marks on Jonathan's skin made her angry. “There's no need for explanations. I get it"

Jonathan's frown deepened, and he fixed his eyes on her. "When have I ever been with another woman?"
