Chapter: 684
"This is your family's hospital. Aren't there enough caretakers around?"

Jonathan raised an eyebrow and smirked. "But none of them can fix my problem. Only you can."

Bethany's frustration was palpable. “I'm not helping you today!"

“We'll just do it once, then."

“Not even once!"

“Don't forget, I can get out of bed tomorrow." Jonathan's voice was light but carried a threat. "And then we can do it as much as I like."

Bethany almost believed that Jonathan had been taken over by some pervert.

If anyone from Bates Group witnessed his current demeanor, they would surely think they were hallucinating.

To them, Jonathan had always epitomized restraint and aloofness, a figure untouched by the scandals that often marred the business world.

"Is that all you can think about now?" she asked, a mix of amusement and disbelief in her tone.

"That's all I can think about when you're near," Jonathan replied, his voice low and earnest.

As Bethany was about to respond, another knock interrupted them.

Opening the door, she found Godfrey standing there.

His expression was unreadable when he saw Bethany. “How is Jonathan doing?" he inquired.

“Dr. Shaw mentioned he's improving and that the devices might be removed tomorrow," Bethany answered, carefully omitting the incident where Jonathan had reopened his wound in fear of revealing what they had done.

Godfrey nodded slightly. "You should step out for a moment. I need to speak with him privately."

"Okay." Bethany agreed without hesitation, turning to leave.

Jonathan, however, interjected from his bed. “Anything you want to say to me, you can say in front of her."

He was adamant about keeping no secrets from Bethany to avoid any misunderstandings.

Bethany, often plagued by insecurities, would feel her anxiety spike at the thought of being kept in the dark.

But Godfrey disagreed with his son's approach.

He believed that the stern, unyielding Jonathan who navigated the cutthroat business world shouldn't be openly vulnerable, especially around a woman who could be perceived as his weakness.

Seeing Godfrey's displeased expression and not wanting to cause a rift between father and son, Bethany offered a conciliatory smile.

“Jonathan, I actually need to meet with Aimee. She's here for me, and I need to resolve some things."
