Chapter: 709
"I'll personally make sure your daughter ends up in jail," Bethany said before hanging up and blocking Andrew's number.

Andrew was a virus and shouldn't be allowed in her life, lest he infect everything he touched.

As Bethany put her phone back in her pocket, she couldn't help but scoff.

Both she and Maddie were Andrew's daughters, but he treated them differently.

Being an illegitimate daughter didn't seem to matter because Maddie could get all his fatherly love.

Fortunately, Bethany had no need for it anymore.

In the past, after such a screaming match with Andrew, she would cry and wonder why her father was so disappointed in her. However, she didn't care anymore.

The only thing that bothered her was that she couldn't take down Maddie herself.

When Bethany finally returned to the hospital room, Samira was still measuring out the medicine and chatting with Jonathan.

Actually, Samira seemed to be doing all the talking while Jonathan stared at the door, waiting for Bethany to return.

"Your dad invited my dad for a hike. Afterwards, my mom said my dad came home smelling of alcohol. I wonder what kind of hike that was. Whenever those two meet, there's always booze involved. You're back, Bethany," Samira said cheerfully when she spotted Bethany.

"Yeah," Bethany responded with a nod and a forced smile. “How's he doing now?"

“He's fine, but you need to keep an eye on him. I don't understand how Jonathan, who seems so calm and collected, can be this restless in private. A minute out of my sight, and he's bleeding again."

Bethany knew why he kept bleeding. “Don't worry about it. I'll keep a close eye on him."

"Alright, I'll be heading back to my office. Don't forget to come pick up the ointment later," Samira said, patting Bethany's shoulder before taking her leave.

Once the door closed, Jonathan asked, “What took you so long?"

“It's nothing. Did you handle your company issue? I can keep reading the contracts for you if you want."

"Are you jealous of the female doctor? I could get a male doctor instead." Jonathan raised an eyebrow.

"Don't!" Bethany quickly waved her hands. "Samira is an excellent doctor; she saved your life. Without her, you would still be in danger!

Her earlier thoughts were not of jealousy towards Samira.

They were simply feelings of admiration.

Deep inside, Bethany always felt insecure. She viewed herself as insignificant, like dirt on the ground, so she was astonished that Jonathan could love someone like her.

"The Bates family pays her wages."

Jonathan didn't think beyond that.
